Winter X Games 2012

One of my dear besties, Jessie, invited me on a weekend getaway to Colorado because her friend Porter got tickets for the Winter X Games.
Although I had never met Porter or the friend he was bringing, I was down for the adventure.

They picked me up Friday afternoon and we became instant friends.

It's about a 7 hour drive to Aspen, and when we got there we went straight to the games to see Snowboarding Big Air. We hurried and tried to throw on warm clothes, but I don't think any of us realized how cold it was actually going to be.
Whether or not I have ever been as cold as I was the first night is debatable. However, It was fun.

Porter has some family friends that live about 45 minutes away from where the games take place so we got to stay with them. They were probably some of the nicest people I have ever met, and they welcomed us girls, who were complete strangers, into their home.

Down the street they had a little apartment and that's where me and jessie got to stay, while the boys stayed at the house. They had the fridge, freezer and counter loaded with food and drinks for us. It was better than any hotel, and best of all it was free.

Saturday we woke up, ate breakfast, and then decided to go shoot the potato gun that Porter had brought along. Its crazy how far it will shoot the potatoes. It was so much fun.
We then headed to the X Games for day #2.
This was the greatest day ever. (I'll blog about why next)
We were much more prepared for the cold this day.
Dont get me wrong, It was still freezing, but with our prepardness it was managable.

We walked around to all the tents where they were giving out a whole lot of free stuff (red bull, beef jerky, posters, bottles of hot sauce, etc. )
We watched some more events and then headed back to the house for some pizza and ice cream. (also compliments of the family friends).

Sunday was our day to come home....unfortunately. We got everything packed up and headed to the X Games for one last time. We got to watch Shaun White on the Half Pipe and that was pretty exciting. He is ridiculously amazing at what he does. It blows my mind what these atheletes are capable of.

After the games we began our journey home. It was a long drive and I miss Colorado already. I really needed a getaway, and this was the perfect weekend. So thank you Jessie, Porter and Dustin for making it so much fun!
